REORIENTING BIRTH

What is Reorienting Birth About?

Birth is a powerful and complex experience that can leave deep imprints on a person’s nervous system, psychology, and overall development. These early experiences can influence how we respond to stress, relationships, timing, and challenges throughout our lives.

In our context, an imprint refers to a pattern of behavior, emotions, and thinking that a person experiences as automatic or beyond their conscious control. Some imprints are constructive, supporting resilience and flow in life, while others may create repeating difficulties or limitations. This training explores both what a healthy developmental process looks like during birth and what may occur when disruptions happen during different stages — and most importantly, how these imprints can be reoriented and transformed.

Examples of birth-related imprints may include feelings such as:

  • “I can never come through.”
  • “I never have enough time.”
  • “Things never happen at the right time for me.”
  • “When I am under high stress, I push myself to work hard, but then I get sick or exhausted and cannot complete what I started.”

The Six Stages of Birth
The training explores the six developmental stages of the birth process:

  • Start – the period shortly before birth (approximately the week before labor begins)
  • Soft Birth – first-stage labor; the stage of gradual expansion
  • Transition Stage – the transition between first-stage labor and second-stage labor, when the uterus begins working in a different way
  • Hard Labor – second-stage labor pains
  • Delivery – delivery
  • The First Days After – the immediate post-birth period and the first days of life

General Information About the Training
In this training, you will learn about the different kinds of birth imprints and how they relate to the specific stages of the birth process in which they may occur.

Across the two modules, you will learn how different patterns and experiences can be connected to specific stages of birth and how therapeutic interventions can help transform these imprints.

The training includes:

  • Live demonstrations by the teacher for each stage of the birth process
  • Supervised practice, where participants work with one another under guidance
  • Opportunities to share experiences and deepen understanding of the practical aspects of reorienting birth experiences
  • Guidance on working with pregnant clients, including important considerations during pregnancy

This training offers both theoretical understanding and practical tools for recognizing and working with birth-related imprints in therapeutic settings.

Why Take This Training?

Birth experiences can leave deep imprints that influence how we respond to stress, relationships, timing, and life challenges. The Reorienting Birth Training offers a unique opportunity to understand how these early patterns are formed and how they can be transformed.

Through a combination of theory, demonstrations, and supervised practice, participants will learn to recognize birth-related imprints and work with them in a practical and therapeutic way. This training provides valuable tools for therapists, bodyworkers, and professionals working with personal development, as well as for individuals interested in understanding their own patterns more deeply.

By learning how to identify and reorient these early imprints, participants can support greater resilience, flexibility, and well-being in themselves and the people they work with.
